Our History

Founded in 1969 by William and Yvonne Selvick, we are the premier harbor towing company for Sturgeon Bay, Green Bay, and Marinette. The first Selvick tug, the Lauren Castle, regularly hauled cement barges from Petoskey, Michigan to Lake Michigan ports.

The Selvick’s had six children, which included twin girls. In 1996, Sharon and Susan, the twins, purchased the business from their parents. In 2014, Don and Julie Sarter, partnered with the twins.

Adopting Modern Technology

Selvick Marine Towing may have started small, but the company’s fleet of tugs continued to thrive as the industry demand for marine transportation grew. The company now has seven tugs in the fleet. All are equipped with the latest communications and safety technology and piloted by certified, experienced marine transportation professionals. All of the vessels are fully compliant with United States Coast Guard requirements.
